S2 recognise that stakeholder health and safety is of utmost importance. Please view or download our Health and Safety policy as this outlines and neatly summarises the passion and commitment of the S2 Directors in this area.

To  enable the S2 Company to fulfil it’s duties under Health and Safety legislation it is our intention to ensure that responsibilities for health and safety matters are effectively assigned, accepted and fulfilled by our organisation;

So far as is reasonably practicable, S2 will ensure that;

  • The company is organised and plans for health and safety effectively, ensuring safe places and safe systems of work are provided and maintained.
  • Staff are trained and competent to perform their duties.
  • All risks that could arise from our activities or the activities of contractors, in our employ, will be assessed and either eliminated or reduced to acceptable levels.

To achieve these objectives, S2 will ensure that;

  • The necessary resources are made available.
  • Objectives are being met by monitoring and inspecting all work places.
  • We review and report on safety performance and audit the implementation of the health and safety standards and procedures.

S2 has a number of manufacturing and engineering workshops involving overhead cranes, mobile lifting devices, welding and fabrication, grinding, and laser cutting for example. As such, to manage these operations and the safety of our employees, visitors and contractors we operate a full health & safety management program, including policies and procedures.

H&S Management Systems

At SGL we have an H&S Management system in operation and have attained ISO 45001 (OHSAS 18001) accreditation.

Our management team conducts periodic safety briefs to all our contractors and employees. Before attending site any client specific safety practices and policies are discussed.

Our employees skills and training needs are managed through our employee skills matrix so that we ensure the right person is assigned to a job or project.

Our H&S system is managed and developed and by our QHSE manager.

5's Workplace Practise

Creating, Managing and Developing a Health and Safety culture, starts "at home".

In our workshops we adopt a 5's approach where everything has its place.

  • Our lifting equipment is colour coded and tested in accordance with the requirements of our H&S management system.
  • All electrical items, such as welding sets, power extensions and items that we take to customer site, are checked, certified and marked accordingly.
  • We operate tool 'shadow boards' across the business
  • Our workshop's have continuous improvement notice boards showing acceptable standards of product manufacturing and supply, as a reminder and check to all personnel.
